Volunteers Needed.......

Could You Be A Volunteer For The Inverkip Community Hub? 

As with other charitable organisations, the Inverkip Hub relies very much on the support of volunteers. Currently the organisation is looking to recruit volunteers for the following positions – 

Secretary to the Board – the Hub requires a secretary to support the work of the Board in - 

Organising, preparing agendas (along with Chair) for, and taking and distributing minutes of board meetings and Annual General Meetings

Maintaining statutory books, including registers of members, trustees, staff and volunteers as appropriate

Dealing with correspondence, collating information, ensuring decisions are communicated to relevant stakeholders 


Hours required - approximately 3 hours every 6 weeks

Good communication, listening and writing skills. Ability to do shorthand would be an advantage but not necessary. It is essential that the volunteer has access to a computer and has experience of Microsoft Word and the use of emails. 

Reception Duties – we are looking for volunteer receptionists (over 16 years old) who can each donate 2 or 3 hours every week to provide a friendly, courteous and helpful welcome to the hub for all its users and visitors. The responsibilities include dealing with users of the Hub, answering the telephone, use of the cash register to take payments and provide receipts, and take bookings for the Hub facilities. Training will be provided on use of the Cash Register and also on the booking procedure. Staff will always be on hand to support the receptionist.  

Caretakers (or Keyholders) - are required to help extend the opening hours of the Hub.  Duties include those of receptionist as well as having the responsibility of the opening and/or closing of the facility. The caretaker will from time to time be operating on their own. Full training will be provided on all aspects of this position. We anticipate using caretakers to cover 2 or 3 hour periods on a weekly basis. Emergency contact details will be provided to caretakers.   

Note – All volunteers will be put through Induction training and will receive specific training relevant to the position they take up. Any other training courses required will be funded by Inverkip Community Initiative.
